PBR Textures: What a Correct Set Looks Like | Mixar

PBR: four channels, and the ways each one goes wrong

A PBR set is four maps doing different jobs, and most bad materials fail on one specific channel rather than all of them: lighting baked into base colour, roughness derived from inverted luminance, metallic used as a dial instead of a switch, or a normal map with the wrong green channel for its destination engine. These pieces cover what each channel has to contain, how to test it, and which maps have to come out of your geometry rather than a generator.
